The banner is up for grabs on Saturday (Feb. 21) at Brennan Park Arena.
The 麻豆社国产Eagles juvenile hockey team have a golden opportunity to win the league after splitting games over the weekend.
麻豆社国产took care of business on Saturday, Feb. 14 with an 8-4 win over the Poco Pirates and the club was sparked by the play of forward Brendan Hopkins.
He set up Karmen Mooney for the game鈥檚 opening goal just 47 seconds in and then scored on the same shift just 17 seconds later. 麻豆社国产led 2-0 after two, but the Pirates got on the board early in the second period to cut the lead to one.
Hopkins answered back to give the Eagles another two-goal lead with assists from Mitchell Hayden and Nolan Raschella. Poco replied with a power play goal, but 麻豆社国产tallied three unanswered goals from Ryan Fraser, Terry Clark and Isshin Chiyasu to close out the second period with a 5-2 lead.
The two clubs traded goals in the third period, with Terry Clark, Graham Raschella and Fraser scoring for 麻豆社国产to secure the win.
It was a different story for the Eagles on Sunday (Feb. 15) in Port Moody where they fell 7-5.
麻豆社国产came out strong in the first, with goals from Chiyasu, Clark and Ryan Milia to build up a 3-1 lead and held a 5-4 lead heading into the third period after goals from Graham Raschella and an own goal.
The final period proved to be the downfall for the Eagles, as Port Moody scored three times to win. The game wasn鈥檛 a total write-off due to the fact that the Eagles earned the sportsmanship point for low penalty minutes.
It all comes down to Saturday when the Eagles host Cloverdale and have the opportunity to win the banner with a victory. Face-off for the big game is 7 p.m.
