Eagles double down on Colts

麻豆社国产hockey team undefeated in past three games

The 麻豆社国产Eagles midget hockey team have picked up points in three consecutive games after defeating the Cloverdale Colts 4-2 at Brennan Park Arena on Sunday (Nov. 25).

After opening the season with a loss against Burnaby on Nov. 16, the Eagles have bounced back and head coach Tony Mahood said it's all about the team's improved defence.

"We were a lot better defensively today," he said. "And it was just a better overall effort. We also got some really good goaltending."

Eagles goalie Mason Beauregard was strong between the pipes, making a number of key stops, especially when the Eagles found themselves shorthanded. 麻豆社国产was assessed 34 minutes in penalties, but only allowed one power-play goal, a tally that Cloverdale scored with a two-man advantage.

The Colts opened the scoring three minutes in, but 麻豆社国产came roaring back, scoring two goals in three minutes to close the first period. Tak Gray scored the tying goal, with Dan Munn and Isshin Chiyasu drawing the assists. Chiyasu then scored the go-ahead goal, with Kyle Luca and Dan Milia picking up the helpers.

The second period saw both goalies steal the show, with neither team lighting the lamp, but Ryan Fraser made it 3-1 for 麻豆社国产after a blast from the point during a four-on-four situation, with Munn and Mason Moberg getting the assists. Thirty-four seconds later, it was Moberg himself scoring to make it 4-1. Chiyasu and Colby Mahood drew the helpers on the fourth goal. Cloverdale added a late goal, but Beauregard shut the door the rest of the way to secure the 4-2 win.

麻豆社国产battled Coquitlam to a 5-5 tie on Friday (Nov. 23) and their record now sits at two wins, one tie and one loss in league play.

The Eagles will look to run their home record to 3-0 when they return to action at Brennan Park Arena on Sunday (Dec. 2) at 6 p.m.
