Howe Sound Minor Ball hosted tourneys this weekend for U16 and U12 girls, bringing in teams from the Lower Mainland for games on Saturday and Sunday.
The final standings for the U16 tourney were North Shore Thunder in听first place, North Shore Cubs in second, New West Royals听third, 麻豆社国产Reds fourth and 麻豆社国产Voopsters fifth.
For the U12 event, the standings were: Richmond Renegades first, 麻豆社国产Flamers second, 麻豆社国产Maroon 5 third and North Shore Wildcats fourth.
For the playoff round, the bronze medal game came down to an international inning tiebreaker, with North Shore holding on to get the bronze. The gold-medal game had a differential of six runs, as 麻豆社国产was not able to hold Richmond back for a chance to win.
For many of the 麻豆社国产players, it was the first tournament with out-of-town teams. Because of the experience, the local U16 teams have decided to participate in North Shore鈥檚 June 25 and 26 tournament.
The U12 division is also going to put together a team for the regional championships on June 18 and 19 in North Vancouver.
SwimFaster
This past weekend, 24 swimmers from SwimFaster competed at the 24th Annual Kamloops June Classic.听
SwimFaster鈥檚 Diane McIllwraith and Max Ndlovu-Fraser took to the blocks at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre to win a third place in 50 back and 50 breast, respectively. The 10-and-under boys relay represented by Phoenix Hislop, Cael Eley, Kefryn Johnson and Max NdLovu-Fraser won first place in the 200 free relay.
Pirates in Richmond
The 麻豆社国产Pirates swim club travelled to Richmond on the weekend with 20 swimmers competing.听
Those getting firsts were: Felix Fota, 25 back, 25 free; Alex Jevons, 200 IM, 100 free, 100 fly; Ryan Sweeny, 50 back, 50 free; Zach Lorimer, 100 free, 50 free; Kai Bolla, 50 back, 50 fly; Wyatt Pedersen, 100 free; Eli Tindall, 100 back; and the Div. 8 200 freestyle relay team of Wyatt Pedersen, Colin Chatfield, Eli Tindall and Jonas Gaces.听
Taking seconds were: Ev Polman 50 free; Ryan Sweeny 100 free, 100 IM; Catarina Fenton ,100 free, 50 back; Ella Guerin, 50 breast; Alex Jevons, 100 back; and Wyatt Pedersen, 50 free. As well, the Div. 3 200 medley relay team of Zach Lorimer,听Kai Bolla, Lukas Buck and Nathaniel Flores and the Div. 8 medley relay team of Eli Tindall, Wyatt Pedersen, Brandon Cheal and Ryan Sweeny took home seconds.
