Volunteering your time at the Sea to Sky Nordic Festival next March will come with its fair share of rewards for those giving up their free time.
Festival organizers have put together an incentive program to help ramp up interest in volunteering at the event. Lindsay Durno, Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) director, said he hopes it will encourage 麻豆社国产residents to take part in the event.
"We want to get the community involved in events like this," Durno said in a statement. "It's crucial to have enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to successfully execute this type of event. To acknowledge their significant time and effort, we have worked out an attractive benefit system."
The incentive program will entitle volunteers to receive Sea to Sky Nordic Festival volunteer vouchers that can be redeemed on a variety of WOP products and services, including free ski workshops, instructional programs, season pass credits and discounts on day tickets, rental equipment and retail items.
"By participating in this event, the community has the opportunity to contribute to the success of the season's biggest ski event and meet some of Canada's best athletes face-to-face - and be rewarded for their efforts," Durno said.
To receive volunteer program benefits, volunteers must be willing to commit a minimum of one to 15 days during the festival, which takes place March 13 to 30. A variety of sport volunteer positions are available to help deliver the high-level competitions during the Sea to Sky Nordic Festival.
Approximately 900 athletes will compete at WOP during the event, which features the four disciplines of cross-country, biathlon, ski jumping and Nordic combined. Some of Canada's best Nordic skiers and jumpers such as world champions Alex Harvey and Devon Kershaw, along with women's ski jumping star Alexandra Pretorius, will be on hand to battle for their respective national titles.
