The Salomon 5 Peaks trail running series is set to invade Alice Lake for the second straight year on Saturday (June 8).
The well-established series has races all over Canada and 麻豆社国产will be the second stop of the season for the B.C. series.
Competitors will take on a course designed by local endurance athlete Jen Segger and will have the option of participating in the Sport (6.9 km) or Enduro (11 km) runs. This year features the debut of a timed kids' three km race and there will also be a free one km children's race.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with registration getting underway for all three races. The three km kids' race kicks off at 9:30 a.m., with the one km children's race hitting the trails at 9:45 a.m. Enduro athletes get going at 10 a.m., with Sport competitors lacing up at 10:45 a.m. An awards ceremony follows at noon.
Last year's inaugural event saw Squamish's Jason Loutitt win the Enduro race with a time of 48 minutes, 47 seconds. Richmond's Marcus Ribi posted the fastest time in the Sport race.
Race fees are $60 for Enduro and Sport racers and $25 for the three km kid's race. For more information on the series, visit www.5peaks.com.
