Fridays rock at Curling Club

Club opens its doors to young adults weekly starting in November

Ever since the Norwegian men's curling team sported those funky pants at the 2010 Winter Olympics, it seems as though curling's interest in North America has been on an upswing.

The Howe Sound Curling Club is hoping to take advantage of the surge in the sport's popularity by offering young adults an opportunity to have fun and learn the game on Friday evenings.

The club announced that it will be dedicating Friday nights this season exclusively to interested participants aged 19 to 34 with the clubhouse's pasta bar serving as the social hot spot for post game gatherings.

Teams of four or individuals can sign up but with only 32 spots available, the club recommends signing up early to guarantee a spot. The club offers two weekly sessions over seven weeks. The first session runs from Nov. 5 to Jan. 14 and the second session continues from Jan. 21 to March 4.

The cost of the program is $50 for an individual or $200 for a team of four, plus applicable taxes. The club pointed out that it works out to $3.57 an hour to take part in the Friday sessions, making curling a very affordable sport.

Starting on Friday (Oct. 15), the club also offers complimentary lessons for those taking part in the Friday night sessions. The lessons will continue for the next three Fridays in anticipation of the beginning of the Friday night league starting on Nov. 5.

McDonald's restaurant in 麻豆社国产has partnered with the club to offer incentives and promotions throughout the season and those interested can register at McDonald's or the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf Club.
