Gagne, Andres and Leslie complete Ironman Canada

Gagne placed 671st out of 2,832 competitors in the grueling event, finishing in 11 hours, 56 minutes, 21 seconds after the 3.8-kilometre swim, 180 km bike ride and 42.2 km run. He placed 118th out of 313 finishers in the male 35 to 39 age category.

Byron Andres and Patricia Leslie of 麻豆社国产also completed the course in 30-plus degree heat. Andres finished in 13:19:17, good for 1,439th overall and 206th in the male 35 to 39 category. Leslie completed the course in 16:14:21, finishing 2,454th overall and 167th out of 197 in the women's 40 to 44 category.

Hometown favourite Jordan Rapp of Penticton overcame the effects of a serious training accident in 2010 to capture his second Ironman Canada title in 8:28:09, 13 minutes ahead of second-place Torsten Abel of Tucson, Ariz. Mary Ellis of Superior, Colo., broke a 21-year-old women's course record, finishing in 9:03:13, 31 minutes ahead of second-place Kim Loeffler of Colchester, Vt.
