Galileo edges Sikh Temple

Temple drops eight points back of first-place Khalsa

After dominating the Howe Sound Men's Soccer League (HSMSL) for much of the first half of the season, it seems some teams are beginning to figure Sikh Temple out.

Temple has now lost two of its past three games, the latest a 3-2 decision to Galileo on Sunday (March 4). The loss drops Temple eight points back of first-place Khalsa in the overall standings.

Galileo rebounded from a 1-0 loss to Automind on Feb. 19 and got goals from Luis Oreamuno and Lawrence Gauthier along with an own goal to pick up the 3-2 win. Bruno Freitas and Ranjit Thandi replied for Temple. Galileo improved to seven wins, five losses and one tie on the season and remained in third place.

The late game saw Khalsa continue its winning ways with a 4-2 win over the Ellis Moving Eagles. Gary O'Neil scored twice, with Russell Adams and Ryan Cook adding singles. Alec Macrae and James Bellinger scored for the Eagles, who dropped to three wins, nine losses and one tie on the season. Khalsa remained in first place with a record of 12 wins and one loss.

The other game ended in a forfeit as Zephyr didn't field enough players. Automind picked up the 1-0 default win to improve to six wins, six losses and one tie.
