Squamish鈥檚 Axemen rugby club defeated Chilliwack 57-0, which grants the local team a spot in the Division 3 finals.
The Axemen attained nine tries. Two for Jack Couzens; two for Lewis Stockton, and one each for Jackson McEvoy, Neil Irwin, Blake Mahovic, Oli Watts and Frazer McGaw.
Irwin kicked six conversions.
鈥淭he match was a tight contest for the opening 20 minutes, with both sides looking to dominate,鈥� manager and player Cian Starogardzki told The Chief.
鈥淏ut it was the Axemen pack that came out on top.鈥�
Starogardzki said the 麻豆社国产team kept pressing hard during the second half.
鈥淭he Axemen, having worn down the stubborn Chilliwack defence, stuck to their structure and reaped the rewards,鈥� he said. 鈥淲ith more space as the opposition tired, quick hands and hard running led to more tries, nine in all.鈥�
The Axemen will have their next match at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club this Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
They鈥檒l be looking to bury the hatchet against Richmond in the Division 3 finals.
