Guns and Hoses returns

12th annual charity hockey game pits RCMP vs. SFRS

One of the longest-running grudge matches in 麻豆社国产is ready to hit the ice again.

Members of the 麻豆社国产RCMP detachment are set to tangle with the 麻豆社国产Fire Rescue Services (SFRS) in Canada's favourite game at the 12th annual Guns and Hoses charity hockey game on March 21.

Last year saw the game go down to the wire, with the SFRS team picking up the narrow 7-6 overtime win. It was the second straight year that the red team beat the blue team, with the RCMP team having won in 2010 and 2011.

But the real reason for the game is to help raise money for a local family or charity in Squamish. Last year saw the game help raise close to $10,000 for the Lazaridis family.

This year all proceeds will benefit the 麻豆社国产Hospice Society and local food banks. In addition to the game, there will be a puck toss, a 50/50 draw and a raffle draw. Entry for the game is by donation of money or a non-perishable food item.

Puck drop at Brennan Park Arena is set for 6:30 p.m., with doors opening for the event at 6 p.m.
