Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) athletic director Joel Harwood will get to experience the best trails in B.C. firsthand thanks to the Kazlaw Community Foundation award.
Harwood, who was named the recipient of the award on March 24, receives a free entry into the BC Bike Race (BCBR) this summer.
The award is given to someone who helps make mountain biking happen in his or her community, as nominated by others through a letter submission. It鈥檚 the fourth time the award has been handed out and nominees were narrowed to six people on March 4, with voting concluding on March 18.
BCBR officials revealed an excerpt from Harwood鈥檚 nomination letter that pointed out his efforts in establishing the cycling academy at HSSS and his work involving the 麻豆社国产cycling community as reasons he was deserving of the honour.
The 2014 BCBR goes from June 29 to July 5 and features seven days of the best riding in the province. It kicks off in North Vancouver on day one and blasts through 麻豆社国产on July 4. The series concludes in Whistler on July 5.
