Despite a hospital visit, Team Squamish鈥檚 Harry Head has now reached the podium in two states and one province in 2014.听
Head travelled to Mount Hood, Oregon, for Event 3 of the Northwest Cup downhill series that concluded on Sunday (June 22) and he captured third place in the Category 2 Men鈥檚 15 to 18 division.
Head managed to place third despite a serious wrist injury he suffered during a morning practice run. Head rode with a splint and finished with a time of four minutes, 49.91 seconds, just over one second out of second place.听
David Head, Harry鈥檚 father, told the 麻豆社国产 in an email that doctors have told his son that it鈥檚 likely either a sprain or possibly a hairline fracture of the wrist and that his helmet and gloves had to be replaced because of the severity of the crash.
The third-place showing puts Head into second place overall in the Northwest Cup series standings after a first place in Kamloops and second- and third-place showings at the two Port Angeles races earlier this year.听
Next up for Head is the third race in the B.C. Cup series, this one at Sun Peaks from July 11 to 13.
