Howe Sound sends Moscrop home early

Moscrop forced to forfeit game after first half dominated by Sounders

It was almost the perfect last home game for Anthony Wuster. The Howe Sound Sounders running back and kick-off return specialist scored four touchdowns in the first quarter to give Howe Sound a 27-0 lead over the Moscrop Panthers that it never surrendered."That was a really nice way to finish it all up," he said. "I felt really good from the start of the game and found a lot of holes."It almost wasn't worth the drive up to 麻豆社国产for the Panthers, who had to forfeit the game after the second quarter. Several Panther players suffered injuries during the first half of action and the team conceded the win to Howe Sound after halftime. The Sounders were originally scheduled to take on the Frank Hurt Hornets in the opening round playoff game but Frank Hurt had a win taken away after it was discovered that they had used ineligible players. Moscrop was bumped up but league officials asked the Howe Sound coaching staff if they wanted a bye and a chance to move on to the next round. Wuster said he was pleased they agreed to invite Moscrop to Howe Sound field."I really was happy we got to play them," he said. "This might sound cocky but I knew we had a better chance of beating Moscrop than Frank Hurt and it was a good chance for all the graduating guys to get one more win at home."With the win, the Sounders move on to the final four and will now travel to Victoria next week to take on the Belmont Bulldogs. The two teams played an exhibition game last year, with Belmont beating Howe Sound 27-6 back on Oct. 8, 2010. The Bulldogs went undefeated in the regular season, sporting a record of five wins and no losses. The game's date and time is still to be determined.Check the print edition of The Chief for more on this story.
