HSCC painted red and white

Mixed bonspiel packs them in at curling club

The annual mixed bonspiel curling event took over the Howe Sound Curling Club (HSCC) all weekend long and painted the facility red and white.

The red-and-white theme of the event saw the HSCC decorated in all things red and white and even saw many of the competitors dress up in the ceremonial colours.

"The mixed open red-and-white bonspiel was a great success," said event organizer Hilary Fisher. "There was some great curling and a load of fun."

Twelve teams were divided into separate red and white groups and took part in three round-robin games on Saturday (Feb. 2). The Olson team from 麻豆社国产and the Gauthier team from New Westminster emerged undefeated after games on Saturday and moved onto the finals on Sunday (Feb. 3).

All teams partied Saturday night away with a red-and-white Mexican meal at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf Course clubhouse. Action resumed on Sunday and it was the Olson team taking home first place after defeating the Gauthier squad in the final. Third place went to the Karran team from 麻豆社国产and fourth was awarded to the Sims team, also from Squamish.

Awards were also given to the best-dressed red-and-white teams, won by the Kirkhams from 麻豆社国产and the Yagers from Surrey, respectively.

The next big event for the HSCC is the Master Men's bonspiel taking place on Feb. 27. For more information on the club, visit www.howesoundcurl.com.
