HSMSL nears season end

Playoff positioning up for grabs in final week

The final week in the Howe Sound Men鈥檚 Soccer League (HSMSL) will feature a battle to determine first overall in the league.

Whistler FC can clinch first overall in the HSMSL with a win or tie over Galileo on Sunday (March 22) after league play on March 15.

The Ellis Moving Eagles beat the 麻豆社国产Gunners 4-0 in Sunday鈥檚 early game and Ellis had two goals from Matt Rollinson and one each from Chris Bowers and Pierre Piopel. The win clinched a playoff berth for the Eagles and was the last regular season game for the club. Ellis finished with a record of two wins, six losses and four ties.

The Gunners remain winless in HSMSL action, with a record of zero wins, nine losses and two ties.

Sikh Temple defeated Galileo 8-2 in an afternoon exhibition game. The game was deemed an exhibition after it was discovered that Temple used ineligible players. As a result, Galileo was awarded a 1-0 win. Galileo鈥檚 win improved the club鈥檚 record to seven wins, one loss and three ties. Temple had five goals from Nav and single goals from Cristian Oreamuno, Dale VanKamp and Istvan Richter. Jonas Lewis scored both goals for Galileo.

The first place HSMSL squad takes on the Eagles in round one, while the second best team squares off against Temple. Final playoff seedings will be determined after Sunday鈥檚 games.
