The Howe Sound Sounders Senior Boys golf team is set to make an impact in the postseason after a strong regular season.
Howe Sound posted a record of five wins and one loss during regular season action, good for second place in the AAA division and finished off the season with four straight wins.
The Sounders picked up decisive 7-0 wins over Handsworth on April 24 and West Vancouver on April 28 to end off the season on a high note.
The team consists of Grade 12 players Isshin Chiyasu, Kevin Kerr and alternate Connor Richards and Grade 11 players Ollie Rizun and Yamato Chiyasu The squad’s head coach Darryl Simmons.
Howe Sound automatically qualified for the 2014 provincials because Â鶹Éç¹ú²úValley Golf and Country Club is hosting the event from Monday through Wednesday (May 26 to 28). The Sounders’ arch-rival Rockridge also qualified after finishing first in the North Shore division. Rockridge was the only team to defeat the Sounders back on April 7.
Other regions at the tournament include: Fraser Valley, Richmond, Lower Mainland, Kootenay, Okanagan, North Central, North West, Vancouver Island and Burnaby/New Westminster.
It all gets underway on May 26 with a practice round for all players starting at 1 p.m., followed by a skills competition featuring five different events. Tournament action begins on May 27 at 9:30 a.m. and continues on May 28 at 8 a.m. with competitors returning for another 18 holes.
