Basketball teams from all over the Sea to Sky Corridor invaded the Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) gym for the annual Sea to Sky Tournament on Friday (Feb. 28).
Pemberton and Whistler squads made the trip south to compete against senior and junior boys and girls teams, but it wasn't the most memorable tournament for the local senior teams.
The senior boys team fell 79-59 to Whistler. Head coach Max Roy said the team was down by six heading into the fourth quarter but ran out of steam.
It was the final home game in Sounders colours for a trio of Grade 12 students. Roy acknowledged the contributions of Gurjot Gill, Randeep Grewal and Xeyus Arellano to Howe Sound basketball.
"I want to thank all three guys for their five years of playing high school basketball," he said. "They were incredibly committed to the basketball program in 麻豆社国产and will be missed next year."
Roy added that he's excited for the senior team next year, as several Grade 10 and 11 students have performed well playing against older competition on the senior team this year.
The senior girls team met a similar fate, losing 51-39 to Whistler. Head coach Anthony Cadman said he's had a blast working with his team and praised them for their effort, attitude and commitment to the team all season.
