Brackendale resident Tristan Jenkin took a trip to the Aloha State, but he wasn't there to get a tan.
Jenkin was one of more than 2,000 to compete in the annual Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on Saturday (Oct. 12).
He ran, biked and swam his way to 539th place and completed the course in nine hours, 54 minutes, 57 seconds. The time was good for 52nd overall in his 25 to 29 age group, it was also 24th among Canadians in the race.
It's been a busy summer of racing for Jenkin, as he placed 59th overall at the Ironman Canada Whistler race in August, ninth in the Subaru Vancouver Triathlon Half Ironman in July and sixth in the 麻豆社国产Triathlon on July 7.
The former Vancouver resident moved to Brackendale shortly after the Ironman Canada race and qualified for the World Championships in Kona by placing fourth in his age group at the Whistler race.
