The final battle of the 2013-'14 Western Hockey League (WHL) regular season goes to the little brother.
Donning his new red, white and blue colours, Josh Thrower and the Tri-City Americans defeated big brother Dalton Thrower and the Vancouver Giants 4-0 in Kennewick, Wash., on Sunday (Jan. 19).
It could be the final time the two 麻豆社国产Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) products meet on the ice against each other, with this season being Dalton's final year of eligibility at the major junior level.
Dalton was kept completely off the score sheet on Sunday, with Josh picking up a minor penalty for roughing in the first period and finishing the game at +1.
It might be the last time the two brothers see each other on the ice in the WHL for a while but 麻豆社国产residents have a special chance to check out Dalton and the Giants in February.
The annual SMHA fundraiser goes down on Feb. 8 at the Pacific Coliseum and locals can catch Dalton and the Giants as they square off against the Edmonton Oil Kings. All SMHA players will receive two tickets that were pre-paid with registration, but more tickets are available.
The event regularly sees SMHA volunteers selling tickets throughout the evening, with proceeds from the 50/50 draw going directly to help support the SMHA. Those interested in attending the fundraiser can get tickets to the game by contacting Lisa McIntosh at (604) 815-8814.
In other SMHA news, the next big hockey event locally is the first-ever Atom A tournament coming to town from Feb. 8 to 10. The sold-out tournament will feature teams from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and other parts of the province.
