Juniors squash program returns

Local club to host Sea to Sky Open next month

The 麻豆社国产Squash Club (SSC) is encouraging residents to play inside and the next few months will see increased action in the club.

Returning in 2014 is the club's juniors program for players aged 13 to 18. The 2014 session starts on Jan. 15 and occurs on the following six Wednesdays. The program costs $18 for all seven sessions or $3 for a drop-in. Sessions are limited to a total of eight participants and are scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The 2014 Sea to Sky Open Tournament is also looming, with the big event occurring from Feb. 14 to 16. Last year's event was won by North Vancouver's Hamid Khosrowkiani and saw 45 competitors hit the court.

To prepare for the tournament, the SSC has its regular league matches for club members as well as drop-in sessions for those not inked with the club. Drop-ins are $10 for adults or $5 for youth and equipment is also available for rentals.

For those who want to hone their skills in advance of the tournament or those new to the sport, SSC member Steve Jacobs offers private lessons at a rate of $25 for 45 minutes. Times are to be mutually arranged and anyone interested can contact Jacobs at (604) 898-3142.

The SSC also has in-house league play Wednesday evenings, ladies' night on Thursdays and drop-in nights on Fridays.
