The Quest University Kermodes didn't get a whole lot of California love on the team's recent trip to the Golden State for the Bill Reynolds Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 28 and 29).
The Kermodes lost 82-55 to the host Vanguard University Lions on Friday after having been outscored 40-15 in the first half. Quest improved in the second half and was led by Mike Zayas-Duran, who picked up a team-high 13 points and two steals. Jesse Norris led the way on the boards, picking up six rebounds.
Quest returned to action on Saturday, dropping a 91-47 decision to the Warner Pacific College Knights. Zayas-Duran again led the team with nine points, with Norris grabbing a team-high six rebounds.
The California trip finished for Quest on Sunday (Dec. 31) with an exhibition game against the Hope International University Royals. Results were not available to The Chief by press time.
Both the men's and the women's teams return to Pacwest regular season action at home on Friday (Jan. 4) when arch-rival the Capilano University Blues come to town. Action gets underway at 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men.
The men's and women's teams sport identical 4-4 records on the season and both sit in third place in their respective divisions.
