The Quest University men's basketball team will kick off their season earlier then normal with a pair of tilts versus NCAA Division I teams from Ball State University and the University of Texas-Arlington this August.
Quest will first host the Ball State Cardinals when the Muncie, Ind.-based team makes its way to 麻豆社国产on Aug.10. The Cardinals are coming off a 19-13 season and return their top five scorers, led by First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection, senior forward Jarrod Jones. The six-foot, nine-inch forward dropped in a team-leading 14.7 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game.
The University of Texas Arlington will then visit Squamish, when the Dallas-Fort Worth-based squad comes to town on Aug. 17. The Mavericks, members of the Southland Conference, finished with a 13-16 overall record last season. In 2008, UT Arlington lost to the Derrick Rose-led Memphis Tigers in the NCAA tournament
"This is a good opportunity for us to get out and play against a high level of basketball. The level of athleticism and size these teams have isn't anywhere close to what we see in league play," said Quest head coach Sean Shook.
The NCAA allows teams to take a foreign trip every four years which allows them to get an additional 10 practices. All eligible student-athletes, including incoming freshman and red-shirts, are allowed to partake on these trips.
Tickets will be available at the door. For more information on this event, visit www.questkermodes.ca.
