Khalsa ends Temple's unbeaten streak

New team suffers first loss in Week 7 HSMSL action

Sikh Temple's undefeated run is over after the team dropped a 3-1 decision to Khalsa in Week 6 action of the Howe Sound Men's Soccer League (HSMSL).

Temple rolled off six consecutive wins before falling victim on Sunday (Oct. 23) to second-place Khalsa, who were led on the scoreboard by Jag Sangha's three-goal performance. Sangha and Temple's Bruno Freitas are tied for the league lead in goals with 10 each.

Freitas still made his presence felt, tallying the lone marker for Temple, who fell to a record of six wins and one loss. Khalsa sits in second with an identical record but trails Sikh Temple by two goals in the goal differential tiebreaker.

The other early game saw the Ellis Moving Eagles pick up their second straight win, downing Automind 4-2. The Eagles displayed a balanced attack, picking up goals from Micah Cianca, Brehan Lawrence, Cam Ellis and Brett Jackson. Scoring for Automind were Austin Sweeney and Charles Carter. The Eagles clawed their way back to .500 with the win, as they now sport a record of three wins, three losses and one tie. Automind remains in fifth place with a record of one win, five losses and one draw.

In the late game it was Galileo besting Zephyr 6-1. Cristian Oreamuno, Mark Gabriel and Robbie Nahanee all scored for Galileo, with Brian Cormack replying for Zephyr. Galileo is entrenched in third place, with a record of four wins and three losses, while Zephyr remains winless with a record of zero wins and seven losses.

Week 7 will kick off on Sunday (Oct. 30), with Galileo taking on Automind, Khalsa battling Zephyr and the Ellis Moving Eagles facing Sikh Temple.
