The LG Snowboard FIS World Cup returned to Canadian soil on Saturday (Feb. 26) but it didn't exactly lead to a home-venue advantage for 麻豆社国产resident Justin Lamoureux.
He failed to qualify for the halfpipe finals after putting together combined runs of 18.3 and 12.2 during the preliminaries. His top score of 18.3 missed the cut by 1.1 points but Lamoureux wasn't alone as six other Canadians failed to make the finals.
In fact, the only Canadian to qualify was Brad Martin from Ancaster, Ont. Martin's qualifying run of 23.6 earned him a spot in the finals but he struggled in the next round, failing to land a run.
"It sucks to make it to the finals and not land a run," Martin said. "Thanks to all the sponsors that put this world cup on and helped us get here."
The women didn't fare much better as all six women competing failed to qualify for the finals. Whistler's Mercedes Nicoll was the top-ranked Canadian, ending up 10th overall.
The next stop on the tour for the half pipe snowboarders will be Bardonecchia, Italy, on March 11. For more information, visit www.snowboardcanada.ca.
