Light and Dark at HSCC

Mixed bonspiel hitting the ice on Saturday

It's going to be the battle of the dark and the light at the Howe Sound Curling Club on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 1 and 2).

The annual mixed bonspiel will invade the club, with teams separated into dark and light divisions and battling it out among themselves for cash prizes.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament, with five teams in the light and dark divisions, respectively. Teams will play a total of four games (once against each team in the division) consisting of eight ends. Five points are awarded for a win, with two awarded for a tie. Tiebreakers to determine the two division champions will be played on Sunday.

Two large bottles of beer (one light and one dark) will be up for grabs each draw and the last team to score a three-ender in each draw gets to keep the beer. Saturday will feature the Dark and Light dinner at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf and Country Club restaurant starting at 6 p.m. Door prizes and other activities will occur after the dinner.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each division and the top four teams overall. It all gets underway on Saturday with the first rocks hitting the ice at 9 a.m.

The next big event for the HSCC is the Master Men's Bonspiel on Feb. 26. For more details on club activity, visit www.howesoundcurl.com.
