Local athlete Marc Nering saw the silver lining when he was at the International Powerlifting Federation鈥檚 World Powerlifting Championship at the beginning of June.
Nering, 54, managed to capture a silver medal in the Masters II 105-kilogram class in the bench press after lifting 353 pounds.
鈥淛ust qualifying for this event is a huge achievement due to the very high entrance requirements,鈥� his wife, Betty, wrote to The Chief.
Three lifters tied at that weight, but Marc聽 won due to being the lightest lifter at weigh-in.
