It鈥檚 almost time for runners to once again take on the trails around Alice Lake.
The annual Loop the Lakes trail run returns on May 24 with cash prizes again up for the top male and female in the 21-kilometre races.
Competitors can choose to run in the 21 km, 15 km and 8 km courses and the free kids one km race is also back.
The 21 km runners hit the trails at 8 a.m., 15 km get going at 8:30 a.m. and the 8 km racers begin at 9 a.m. The kids race begins at 10:45 a.m.
Squamish鈥檚 Brad Schalles won last year鈥檚 21 km race, completing the course in one hour, 23 minutes, 42 seconds. A total of 175 runners took part in the event in 2013.
Organizers are looking for about 40 volunteers to help out with race-day duties and all interested can discover more details at www.challengebychoice.ca/events/loop-the-lakes-trail-race.
Organizer Jen Segger and her team are also introducing a new race in June on brand new terrain located near the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola. Both the start and the finish line will be on top of the gondola.听
The Skyline Ridge Run can be packaged with Loop the Lakes and the new run occurs on June 21. Runners can select from a 10 km or 21 km race and there are cash prizes for the top finishers in each distance.听
