Mikayla Martin's first race of 2012 netted two more medals for the young skier's trophy case.
The 麻豆社国产native picked up gold and bronze medals at the 76th annual Teck Enquist K2 Slalom at Mount Seymour on Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 21 and 22).
Martin kicked off the weekend blazing through the slalom course in times of 40.71 and 38 seconds, respectively, to finish third on Saturday. Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club's Antonia Wearmouth took home the gold, finishing just ahead of Martin's Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) teammate Stefanie Fleckenstein.
After a foggy and damp Saturday, weather conditions on Sunday saw wind and sideways snow greet the athletes. Martin proved she can race well in the wind, posting the fastest women's time, 34.19 seconds. She followed that with a solid run of 38.89 seconds to capture the gold. Martin managed to narrowly edge out Fleckenstein and Wearmouth, who joined her on the podium for the second straight day.
