Squamish's Mikayla Martin continued her strong 2012 season on the slopes by picking up the Bob Parsons Memorial Cup at the 32nd annual event on Sunday (Feb. 19).
The two-day event got underway on a foggy Saturday (Feb. 18), with Martin setting the pace for a great weekend by blazing through the Super-G course in one minute, 5.31 seconds. Martin edged out her Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) teammate Stefanie Fleckenstein by nearly a second.
The second race on Saturday saw Fleckenstein exact a little revenge, beating Martin by 1.3 seconds with the fastest girls time of the day at 1:02.41.
Sunday saw a drop in temperature along with better visibility and the conditions seemed to help Martin as she edged out Fleckenstein by .08 seconds to win the Parsons Memorial Cup. Martin finished the course in 1:04.08 to capture the trophy.
