Miller places second at ProGRT

麻豆社国产racer starts season with a strong showing in Port Angeles

麻豆社国产mountain bike racer Miranda Miller started her 2011 season on the right foot, finishing in second place at the ProGRT in Port Angeles, Wash., on Sunday (April 10).

Miller beat out 10 other girls and posted a time of 3:22.6, about five seconds behind winner Jill Kintner of Ferndale, Wash. On the mens side, Max Horner of Whistler was the top Sea to Sky athlete, finishing in fifth with a time of 3:10.39.

I thought the weekend went pretty good, Miller said. It was raining a lot and the track was pretty wet, but I thought it went pretty well overall.

Miller arrived in Port Angeles on Thursday (April 7) and spent two days practicing and becoming more familiar with the course. Saturday (April 9) saw all racers compete in seeding for Sundays race. The conditions on Sunday were wet but Miller managed to excel, taking one second off of her seeding time and gaining four seconds on Kintners top seeding time from Saturday.

For her efforts, Miller pocketed $200 and some confidence heading into the summer.

Im feeling pretty good overall, she said. I just need to get off the brakes a little bit at some points, but I think all the training I did this winter was huge. I felt more comfortable in practice and wasnt getting tired as fast.

Next up for Miller is the Sea Otter Classic, which takes place from April 14 to 17 in Monterey, Calif. For more information and updated results from the Sea Otter Classic, visit www.seaotterclassic.com.
