Miller shines as Gryphon enduro premieres

Bike race series kicks off on local trails

The brand new Sea to Sky Enduro Series made its debut in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úwith The Gryphon race on Saturday (May 3).

The Gryphon saw a total of 152 riders hit the local trails, eventually finishing their journey at Quest University.Ìý

A total of five different timed stages made up the race, with winners determined on both total time and each individual stage time.Ìý

Squamish’s Miranda Miller won the Pro women division, posting the top time in four of the five stages. She also had the fastest overall time for all women. Whistler’s Katrina Strand picked up the top time in Stage 7, the only stage Miller failed to win.

Whistler’s Jesse Melamed had the top overall time and won Stages 1, 3 and 5. Nanoose Bay resident Remi Gauvin won Stage 2, with North Vancouver’s Matthew Beer posting the top time in Stage 4. Rhys Verner was the top local pro male, placing sixth overall.

Â鶹Éç¹ú²úresident Dennis Beare dominated the open men’s division, winning four of the five stages. Pat Foster, another local rider, finished second and was the only other individual to win a stage.

North Vancouver’s Elladee Brown had the top total time in the open women’s division and won Stages 2, 3 and 5. Squamish’s Veronika Voracek won the other two stages and placed third overall.

The series continues on May 17 in Pemberton and returns to Â鶹Éç¹ú²úon July 5 for The Mock Turtle. For more details on the series, visit www.seatoskyenduro.com or www.squamishenduro.com.
