It鈥檚 a new name but runners will notice a familiar course at the first ever Shannon Basin Loop trail run on June 13.
The 10-kilometre course is identical to last year鈥檚 Skyline Ridge trail run, and Run 麻豆社国产co-founder Sean Verret said he wants to build off the momentum of last year鈥檚 successful debut.
鈥淭hey had over 120 people running it last year,鈥� he said, of the race that occurs on trails that are accessed by the Sea to Sky Gondola.
He said the race is challenging but suggested all levels of runners can take it on.
鈥淎nybody can do it,鈥� he said. 鈥淪ome beginners might not have seen a climb like the one on this race but that鈥檚 what you get with trail running. It鈥檚 more about the experience. The distance they can probably do without a problem but it鈥檚 just a different and unique experience.鈥�
The course sees runners start just outside the Summit Lodge and wind their way around the Shannon Basin Loop. Runners start off with a downhill portion, but at the four kilometre mark the course juts uphill at an elevation of over 800 metres.
鈥淭his isn鈥檛 your typical flat pavement-based course,鈥� Verret said. 鈥淚t starts with a fun but not technically challenging downhill, but with any downhill you end up with some uphill. It鈥檚 basically three kilometres of flow downhill, a two-kilometre section of primarily uphill, and finishes with a flatter run. It鈥檚 almost three stages and it鈥檚 a pretty good climb there.鈥�
Users who do not have a gondola pass can receive discounted lift passes to participate in the race. Verret said the race is always looking for volunteers and those interested can contact him at

The first run in the new Run 麻豆社国产series occurred on May 23 with Loop the Lakes at Alice Lake, and Verret said it was a good introduction to running a series.
鈥淚t was awesome,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t was my first time as a race director and we had just under 300, which I think is our best turnout ever. I think it was a huge success and we had a nice family feel.鈥�
The next event on the calendar for Run 麻豆社国产is the brand new Sea to Sky Scramble trail run. The race also occurs on trails located off of the gondola and runs on June 27.聽
One unique aspect to the Scramble is that it鈥檚 a part of the inaugural 麻豆社国产Mountain Family Competition, which awards a special prize to the fastest combined male and female time of the Test of Metal and the Scramble.
