The Cyclone Taylor Cup proved to be the final stop for the junior hockey careers of 麻豆社国产Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) products Brodyn Nielsen and Bret Higham.
The pair of players on the PJHL champion North Vancouver Wolf Pack were eliminated from competition following a 5-0 loss to the Mission City Outlaws in the bronze medal game on Monday (April 6).
The Pack opened the round robin tournament with a 6-3 loss to the Campbell River Storm on Friday (April 3) and then lost 7-6 in a shootout to the Outlaws on Saturday (April 4). They also posted a 5-4 overtime loss to the Kimberly Dynamiters on Sunday (April 5).
Nielsen, who was the captain of the team, scored four points in the four games at the tournament. Higham, playing with a hand injury, dressed for two games.
The elimination ends Nielsen鈥檚 junior run, which included stops with the Vancouver Giants, Chilliwack Chiefs, Trail Smoke Eaters and Alberta鈥檚 Whitecourt Wolverines. Higham鈥檚 junior run included a Cyclone Taylor Cup win with the Richmond Sockeyes in 2013 and several games with the Victoria Cougars.
Meanwhile, the hockey season wraps up for Squamish鈥檚 Dalton Thrower and the Brampton Beast on Sunday (April 12). The East Coast Hockey League club is not heading to the playoffs after finishing 13th in the league鈥檚 Western Conference. Thrower has six points and 107 penalty minutes in 37 games this season for the Beast.
