The 2012-'13 Nordic season in the Sea to Sky Corridor is set to be one of the busiest on record and the Callaghan Winter Sports Club (CWSC) is getting ready to kick off the season with the second annual Nordic Expo and Gear swap.
The CWSC will again take over the 麻豆社国产Adventure Centre (SAC) for the event, taking place this year on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those who have gear they wish to sell can do so by dropping off their equipment at the SAC from 8 to 10 a.m. CWSC volunteers will receive and tag the equipment, which is expected to include everything from skis to poles to clothing and all sorts of other Nordic gear. The club will attempt to sell any equipment received, with 15 per cent of all sales going to the CWSC for fundraising purposes.
麻豆社国产merchants will also be there providing information for both new and experienced skiers. The Nordic Shop, Valhalla Pure, Escape Route and Outwest are all confirmed to be taking part in the event. The merchants will have samples of equipment and will be able to answer questions or offer advice to anyone looking for information about the sport.
Season's passes for Whistler Olympic Park will be available to the public, with staff also on hand to answer questions. Representatives of two Sea to Sky Corridor clubs (CWSC and 麻豆社国产Nordics) will also be on hand to provide details on their clubs' programs for skiers of all ages. In addition, program information and registration for both the CWSC and the WOP will be made available.
The swap marks the beginning of what should be an action-packed year for Nordic sports locally, with WOP becoming the first venue ever to host all four (biathlon, ski jumping, cross country and Nordic combined) Nordic national championships in one season.
