Winter is just around the corner but that doesn't mean the 麻豆社国产Paddling Club (SPC) is closed for the cold season.
The SPC is offering several programs at the Brennan Park pool to keep people thinking about hitting the water even if it's not so nice outside.
Those new to the sport can take part in the Intro to Kayak course, which offers two different sessions in the coming weeks. It's designed as a way for beginners of all ages to learn how to handle themselves on the water. Participants will be taught basic kayaking skills and the club provides all equipment. The course will span two Saturdays, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., with Saturday (Oct. 22) being the start of the next available set of classes. The course will also take place on Nov. 12 and 19. The cost to take part is $50 for adults and $25 for children under 19.
Paddlers with more experience on the water are invited to rolling clinics put on by the club. Space is limited to four spots per night and is open to those wanting to learn how to roll or who want to improve their rolling technique. Participants can use their own boats for the class and it costs users $25 for adults and $15 for those under 19. The next session is scheduled for Nov. 5, lasting from 8 to 9:30 p.m., with an additional one set for Nov. 26.
The club will also run drop-in sessions during the same time as the intro and rolling courses; in this case there is no instruction and participants can bring their own boats. The drop-in runs from 8 to 9:30 p.m., costing $5 for under 19 and those bringing their own gear and $10 for those using club gear.
SPC membership is required to take part in any of the classes. The yearly fee of $30 for adults, $15 for under 19 or $75 for families can be paid online or at the front desk at Brennan Park.
