Pee Wee Eagles fall to Vancouver

Eagles finish in middle of packs during placement games

It wasn't the way the 麻豆社国产Eagles Pee Wee A team wanted to end its placement round.

The team lost 2-1 to Vancouver at Brennan Park Arena on Sunday (Nov. 3) to wrap up the series of placement games.

Vancouver opened the scoring at 7:55 of the first period as Samson Brinkeroff was able to put one past Eagles goalie John Hunter, who kept Vancouver at bay for most of the first period.

麻豆社国产wasn't fazed by the goal and continued its attack on the Vancouver Spirit Bears. The Eagles tied the game on a goal by Carson Feser at 2:24 of the first period set up by a nice passing play from Steven Grantham and Tucker Reed.

The game remained 1-1 for most of the second and third periods. The up-tempo and aggressive play kept both goaltenders on their toes and 麻豆社国产continually pressed for the go-ahead goal with quick breakouts and precision passing.

In the third period, the Eagles' hard work and quick feet was rewarded with a 5 on 3 power play, but they were unable to capitalize and an untimely body checking penalty saw the advantage reduced to 4 on 3.

Shortly after the penalties expired, at 2:38 of the third, Vancouver was able to catch a break and a broken play saw the puck end up in the back of the home team's net.

That ended Squamish's placement round of eight games in a group of nine teams. The Eagles compiled a record of 4-3-1 and picked up nine points, putting them in the middle of the group.

Head Coach Michael Lindgren said he was happy with his team's performances to date. He felt his team could have beat any of the teams they've faced so far.

We're not winning games individually we're doing this as a committee this year, he said. We have a skilled group and we're going to develop.

The team awaits its schedule, which is released once placement has been completed, but will typically play at home Sundays at 6 p.m.
