Pee Wee's coming to Squamish

Annual Thanksgiving hockey tournament welcomes Pee Wee players

The annual Thanksgiving Weekend tournament returns to Â鶹Éç¹ú²úand this year it will feature some of the best Pee Wee A talent from all over the province.

This year’s edition features 12 teams battling it out for early season bragging rights and it all gets underway today (Oct. 9) with the champion being crowned on Monday (Oct. 13).

Teams are separated into four different pools with each team playing two round robin games before moving on to an elimination round. The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úEagles match up in Pool A with North Vancouver and Port Coquitlam. Other teams represented include: Coquitlam, Burnaby, North Delta, West Vancouver, Hollyburn, Whistler, Cloverdale, Vancouver and Merritt.

The Eagles hit the ice on Friday (Oct. 10) at 9 p.m. when they battle North Vancouver. Â鶹Éç¹ú²úconcludes the round robin against Port Coquitlam on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 1:30 p.m. The team has at least one more game depending on their success in the opening two games. The championship game occurs on Monday at 11:30 a.m.

All games are free to watch and go down at Brennan Park. The Thanksgiving tournament is the first of six tournaments the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úMinor Hockey Association (SMHA) is putting on for the 2014/15 season. The next scheduled tournament for the SMHA is the Atom C tournament in December.
