For the first time since the 2006-'07 hockey season, the 麻豆社国产Eagles Peewee rep team will get to hang a banner in the Brennan Park Arena.
The Eagles clinched the banner by beating the Whatcom Warriors 9-6 on Saturday (Feb. 11) to take home the best record in their Flight 7 grouping. 麻豆社国产finished with an impressive record of 15 wins, three losses and two ties to edge second-place North Shore Winter Club by three points.
Saturday's game was a typical high-scoring affair for the Peewees, who averaged 6.45 goals per game during the regular season, and they got on the board early when Luke Parry scored 1:11 into the first. Four and a half minutes later Callum MacDonald gave the home team a 2-0 lead before Whatcom answered with two goals in two minutes to lock the game up. Nicholas Antone scored a late go-ahead goal for 麻豆社国产to give them a 3-2 lead after one period.
The teams continued to trade goals in the second period, with two from Gabe Kryzanowski and singles from Jacob Ellis, Antone and Parry. 麻豆社国产built an 8-4 lead heading into the final frame.
In the third, 麻豆社国产picked up a goal from Jacob Murray and the team cruised to a 9-6 win. Notable performers for the team included Parry (two goals, three assists), Antone (two goals, two assists), Kryzanowski (two goals, two assists) and Scott Newell (three assists).
The team, coached by Chris Nunn, will now move on the playoffs, where they take on North Vancouver in the first round.
