Riders from this year's Test of Metal are heading to the Commonwealth Games.

The male and female winners of the 2014 Test of Metal in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úare off to Glasgow, Scotland, later this month to represent Canada at the 20th Commonwealth Games.

Catharine Pendrel, who won the women’s race, and Max Plaxton, winner of the men’s Test of Metal in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úon June 14, make up half of Canada’s contingent in cross-country mountain biking at the Games, an Olympic-style competition featuring teams from countries that are part of the British Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Games, the largest multi-sport event ever staged on Scottish soil., are scheduled July 23 to Aug. 4.
