Pietila, Kirkham win bonspiel

Dark and Light mixed event draws 10 teams

The light shone and the dark devoured at the mixed bonspiel event at the Howe Sound Curling Club (HSC) on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 1 and 2).

The annual event had a dark-and-light theme for 2014 with 10 teams from 麻豆社国产and all over the Lower Mainland battling it out for the top prize.

The event was broken down to two divisions and the dark division was won by the Pietila team consisting of Jim Pietila, Cheryl Bass, Ken Hall and Linda Pietila. The light division saw Mayor Rob Kirkham captain the top team, which also consisted of Barry Turner, Val Turner and Donna Kirkham.

Second-place teams were the Mike Freeman team from the Marpole and Mission curling clubs in the dark division and the Rhudora Mancera team from the Richmond and Marpole clubs. Third-place finishers were both Squamish-based with Juan Olson's team and the Glen Karran team in the dark and light division, respectively.

The next big event for the HSCC is the Masters Men's Bonspiel on Feb. 26. For more details on club activity, visit www.howesoundcurl.com.
