Pirates compete provincially

Local swim team represents Howe Sound at High School Championships

A pair of Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) students made an impact at the BC High School Swimming Championships in Richmond on Nov. 14 and 15.

Eli Tindall had the best local showing, as he qualified for three B finals and placed 13th in the 50 metres backstroke, 13th in the 100 m freestyle and 14th in the 50 m freestyle.

Tindall achieved a personal best in the 50 m freestyle at the event, posting a time of 1:13.70.

Also competing was HSSS student Alex Jevons, who placed 23rd in the 50 m fly and the 100 m individual medley.

Jevons and Tindall both swim locally with the 麻豆社国产Pirates swim club and the club is wrapping up its fall season on Dec. 18 with a mini-meet and party. The winter season for the Pirates starts up on Jan. 5, with all practices occurring at Brennan Park Recreation Centre pool.
