After a summer of hard work, the 麻豆社国产Pirates swim club will take some time off after reflecting on what was a successful showing at the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association's Provincial Championships in Kamloops Aug. 20 to 22.

According to club vice-president Lynn Chappell the young athletes' results did 麻豆社国产proud.

"All the kids have been working so hard," she said. "And so many of them got great times, most of them had their best times of the season."

Chappell may be forgiven for being especially proud of one athlete in particular -her son.

Eli Chappell had a strong showing at the provincials, finishing fourth in his age group in the 50-metre fly with a time of 34.25 seconds.

"He really flew in the fly," laughed Chappell.

He also had two eighth place finishes in the 100-metre individual medley and the 50-metre backstroke.

Wyatt Pedersen, who was competing in the Boys Division 5, placed fourth in the 50-metre freestyle with a time of 26.58 seconds. He also placed seventh in his division for the 100-metre freestyle and ninth in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Sarah Dale was another standout, qualifying for four different races provincially in the Girls Division 5 competition.

She placed fourth in the 50-metre fly with a time of 31.84 seconds for her highest ranking. She also ended up eighth in the 50-metre freestyle, 11th in the 100-metre breaststroke and 13th in the 100-metre fly.

Aura Mullings and Eric Aikens also represented the Pirates in Kamloops with Mullings placing 19th in the Girls Division 2 50-metre backstroke and Aikens 19th in the Boys Division 4 50-metre fly.

The Pirates swim club will start back up in October with two weekly sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. For more information or to register, contact the club via e-mail at [email protected].
