Quest University and the 麻豆社国产Youth Soccer Association have teamed up to create a training academy.聽
The fall session is already underway, association president Tim Sjogren said. A winter academy is set to run for eight weeks starting on Feb. 15.聽
鈥淲e developed the partnership with Quest through their soccer program,鈥 he said.
The program pools resources and coaches, Sjogren noted. The fee gets participants time on the field with former Bundesliga player and current Quest men鈥檚 head coach Alexander Elliott and former women鈥檚 national team player Martina Franko.聽
鈥淚t is open to all levels of soccer players,鈥 Sjogren said.
Some of the Quest men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer players are pitching in with the academy. Down the road, Sjogren said he hopes to put a mentoring program in place.聽
鈥淭his is the first year that we have put this together,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t is pretty exciting and so far, all the feedback has been super-positive.鈥
The academy encourages participants to come out and watch Quest鈥檚 soccer team鈥檚 home games. At half time, the young players hit the greens in scrimmage games.聽
鈥淚t鈥檚 good to see them out there,鈥 Sjogren said.聽
The academy is held at Quest鈥檚 turf pitch. For more information visit www.squamishsoccer.ca.
