Bryce Froberg will be leaving Quest University on a high note after being named a second-team British Columbia Colleges' Athletic Association (BCCAA) all-star last week.
Froberg, who has been a mainstay on the men's basketball program during its entire existence at Quest, had another solid season for the Kermodes at the point guard position. The native of Bellingham, Wash., was fourth in the BCCAA in rebounds, averaging more than eight boards a game and also fourth in assists, dishing out 4.9 per game.
His all-around game was on full display during a game against Camosun on Jan. 22, when he picked up his second career BCCAA triple double.
The BCCAA also honoured two Quest rookies who made an impressive impact in their first season. Guard Jose Colorado and forward Ruth Thanert were named to the all-rookie teams for men and women, respectively.
Colorado was a top scorer for the Kermodes and battled his way into a starting position early on with the team. He scored 30 points on three separate occasions, including a 32-point performance against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats on Nov. 12.
Thanert also made a huge impact during her first season in the BCCAA. The native of Hamburg, Germany, was eighth in the league in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. She was also dominant on the glass, picking up 7.5 rebounds a game. Thanert established herself as a force in the league after going head to head against Langara's Carling Muir and leading the Kermodes to a victory on Nov. 20. Thanert picked up 16 points and 12 rebounds in the game and was a major factor in the big early win for the team.
