Make it six games and no losses for the Quest basketball program.
Both the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 Quest Kermodes are in first place and neither team has a blemish after two weeks of Pacwest action.
Balanced scoring seems to be on the menu for the men鈥檚 team, as they had five players scoring in double digits in a 76-65 win over the CBC Bearcats in Abbotsford on Friday, Nov. 7.
Newcomer Theo VandenEkart had team high 16 points and seven rebounds, while Justin Tryon contributed 14 points and six boards. Quest played strong defensively, holding the Bearcats to only 34 per cent shooting. Defensive stopper Mike Zayas-Duran and VandenEkart combined for eight steals, with Zayas-Duran also adding a block.
The Kermodes defensive dominance continued on Saturday (Nov. 8) against the KPU Eagles.
They held the Eagles to just 27 per cent shooting in the 76-45 win. Guard Dylan Kular scored 22 points, with VandenEkart adding 16 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals. Tryon grabbed team high nine rebounds in the victory.
The pair of wins improves the men鈥檚 team record to three wins and no losses on the season.
It was a similar story for the women鈥檚 team, as they crushed the Bearcats 79-48 on Friday, Nov. 7. Shayna Cameron led the way with 18 points, while Tessa Needham added 11 points and seven rebounds. Katrin Sandbichler also had a strong game with 10 points, five steals and four rebounds.
The Kermodes held the Bearcats to just 22 percent shooting and shoot 43 per cent from the field themselves, including 46 per cent from beyond the arc.
Quest鈥檚 weekend continued with a 63-59 win over the KPU Eagles on Saturday and the Kermodes were led by forward Miriam Baumann, who had a double-double (20 points and 10 rebounds) to go with four assists.
Sandbichler added 11 rebounds and five steals in the win. Quest fell behind in the third quarter, only to roar back in the fourth to secure the win.
Like the men, the women are in first place with a perfect record of three wins and no losses.
It will get tougher for both teams next week, as they travel to Vancouver Island to battle the VIU Mariners on Friday (Nov. 14) and the Camosun Chargers on Saturday (Nov. 15).
VIU鈥檚 men鈥檚 team is also undefeated and the women鈥檚 team is in third place. Quest returns to 麻豆社国产the following weekend for games against Douglas College and Langara College.
