The Quest Kermodes men鈥檚 basketball team is stumbling towards the finish line of the Pacwest regular season.
Quest lost two straight for the first time this season, falling 65-59 to Douglas College on Friday (Feb. 20) and 101-87 to Langara College on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Saturday鈥檚 game saw Langara control the play from start to finish, with Quest closing the gap somewhat in the third and fourth quarters, but failing to match the Falcons.
Quest鈥檚 Theo VandenEkart led the way with 20 points and Mike Powell had a team-high eight rebounds.
The pair of losses means Quest will finish third in the Pacwest standings and play the number six seed in the opening round of the playoffs starting on March 5.
Meanwhile, it was smooth sailing for the Quest women鈥檚 team, as they clinched first place in the Pacwest and remain undefeated.
The Kermodes beat Douglas 72-52 on Friday and then downed Langara 82-54 on Saturday. Quest鈥檚 record is now a perfect 19-0 and they could become the first team in Pacwest basketball history to go 21-0 if they win both of their games this weekend.
The teams host Camosun College on Friday (Feb. 27) and the VIU Mariners on Saturday (Feb. 28) to conclude the season. Friday鈥檚 games tip-off at 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men and Saturday鈥檚 games occur at 1 p.m. for the women and 3 p.m. for the men.
