The weather outside was dreary but the sunny spirit of 麻豆社国产shone through at the Race for Life event put on by the 麻豆社国产BMX Association on May 15.
Hundreds of competitors, volunteers and spectators packed the BMX track to show their support for local racer Nick Geddes and help raise money for the B.C. Children's Hospital.
Geddes, a promising young cyclist from Whistler, recently discovered that he had leukemia while competing in a race in California. The event was inspired by Geddes and he also addressed the crowd before the race, thanking everyone for their support while he battles the disease.
According to 麻豆社国产BMX president Vicki Schenk, more than $5,500 was raised at the event and the group expects more money to come as donations will be accepted until Aug. 15.
