The 麻豆社国产trails are officially open for business, and Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) took advantage of that fact on Saturday (April 4).
MEC hosted its second trail running race of the year on the Smoke Bluffs trails, where hundreds competed in both the five and 10-kilometre distances.
Whistler鈥檚 Vincent Pagot had the fastest time amongst all competitors in the 10-kilometre race, posting a time of 52:42. Runners David Starr and Julien Lamoureux placed second and third respectively with times of 55:11 and 55:23.
The top local male in the 10-kilometre race was Marko Toijanen, who was 10th overall with a time of 1:01:11.
North Vancouver鈥檚 Rebecca Sheffield was tops in the female 10-kilometre run, posting a time of 56:08. Squamish鈥檚 Zoe Dawson had the top local time, finishing second with a time of 59:56. Coquitlam runner Olivia Willett was third at 1:01:37.
麻豆社国产was also well represented in the men鈥檚 five kilometre division. The father-son combination of Jody Parry and Luke Parry finished second and third. Father Jody (29:25) beat out son Luke (29:36) by 11 seconds in the race. Quentin Emerian had the top time at 29:02.
In the women鈥檚 5 km, Charlotte Prangley had the top time of 33:28, with Baneet Bains in second at 33:29. Squamish鈥檚 Lorraine Yeung was third, posting a time of 34:18.
