The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP team celebrates its victory at the annual Guns and Hoses game.

The red light was shining on the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP at the 13th annual Guns and Hoses charity hockey game on Friday, March 20.

The RCMP defeated the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úFire Rescues Services team 11-5 to win for the second year in a row. It was the third period that made all the difference.

The game was deadlocked in a 5-5 draw after two periods, but the RCMP turned on the offence while goalie Desi Clark shut the door to lead the team to the win.

Trevor Smith lead the way for the RCMP with five goals, while Nick Fortin was the top scorer for the red guys with three goals.

The game also featured a puck toss, charity auction and a shootout that saw competitors try to slide the puck through a tiny slot to win tickets to the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úValley Music Festival.

But the real winners were the local charities that benefitted from the game. More than $2,700 was raised for the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úFood Bank and Hiltop House Support Society, along with five boxes of food donated by fans.

The pressure will be on the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úFire Rescues Services next year as they try to win for the first time since 2012.
