It's almost time to play ball for several local teams and leagues.
The Howe Sound Cannons of the North Shore Men's Baseball Association (NSMBA) will return to the field to defend their championship starting May 5 in North Vancouver.
The club will hit the diamond for home games at Laroy Watt field starting May 26 and will have several home dates in June and July.
"We've got high hopes with the second comeback of 'Big Rigg' Smith," said the Cannons Tyler Magee. He added the club will have its annual fundraiser at the Mosquito Creek Bar and Grill in North Vancouver on May 5 and the squad will be hosting a free youth clinic and barbecue at one of their home games later this year.

The league runs from May till July with playoffs in August. Games nights are Wednesday and Friday. All those interested in joining can contact the HSMFL at [email protected].
